Coaching: Burch has coached for 30+ years as of this writing and led three gymnasts to the Olympic Games, (Lance Ringnald, 1988, Lance Ringnald & Trent Dimas, 1992, & Mihai Bagiu, 1996). He has coached national champions in every age group and at all competitive levels and has coached several past national team members including 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist, Trent Dimas, Gold-HB, (1992), two-time Olympian Lance Ringnald as well as team members Mihai Bagiu, Chris Waller, and Chainey Umphrey who Burch coached since he was six years old. His gymnasts have been on four different NCAA Championship teams and 98% of his graduating Gold Cup high school seniors have received athletic scholarships to top ten NCAA programs. Honors: Received the Frank Cumiskey Award, (1986), The Excellence for Albuquerque Economy Award, (1990); The Greater Alburquerque Chamber of Commerce Award for his coaching role in the Barcelona Gold medal by Trent Dimas; The National Collegiate Athletic Association Gymnastics Coach’s (NCAAGCA) Honor Coach Award, (1998); and the Ed Burch Award for Excellence in Coaching, (1993). General: After devoting the majority of his career to men’s gymnastics, Burch now focuses primarily on coaching women’s gymnastics.  His son, Ed, competed at U.C., Berkeley.
